This is where clinical research, technology, and the clinic collide! The technological advances in healthcare are occurring faster than we can imagine. Brownstone Health, and its partner’s in The Collective, are working tremendously hard behind-the-scenes to provide our clients with the latest concepts, products, treatments, and advances in healthcare through technology. For some of these services, we are the first on the Canadian Prairies to offer. Some of them are exclusive to our space.
Shiftwave
Shiftwave is the world’s most advanced nervous system regulation device that uses powerful, intelligent vibrations to optimize your body’s performance, reduce stress, and enhance overall vitality. It is a nervous system training technology that helps identify imbalances in the nervous system. It does this by using advanced non-invasive algorithms to measure brainwaves, heart rate variability, and skin conductance levels. This data is then analyzed to pinpoint areas of dysfunction within the body. From there, an individualized program is created that focuses on restoring balance and reducing pain throughout the body.
The most obvious benefit of using Shiftwave is that it can help reduce chronic pain in areas such as your back, neck, or joints. But beyond simply relieving physical pain, many clients have found that using Shiftwave has had an overall positive impact on their mental health as well. The technology provides insight into how stress impacts the body and how each individual reacts to it differently—allowing them to better understand their own bodies and take proactive steps towards leading a healthier lifestyle.
In addition, many people have reported improved sleep patterns after utilizing Shiftwave training sessions; this is because it not only helps identify underlying issues but also addresses them with targeted exercises tailored specifically for each client’s needs. Finally, some clients have even found that using Shiftwave has improved their overall performance both at work and in their personal lives due to increased focus and clarity of thought.
Redlight (Low-Level Laser) Therapy
Redlight- Red light therapy, also called Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation,(PBM) is a safe and non-invasive therapy technique that works by delivering concentrated wavelengths of natural red and near-infrared light into the skin all the way to the cells of the body.
Benefits
Most commonly used to treat skin conditions and cosmetic issues, such as wrinkles, sun damage, scars, persistent wounds, acne – even weight issues and hair loss – and to promote an overall healthier, more youthful appearance, red light therapy is increasingly being shown to affect the body on a deeper level as well.
Mounting evidence is proving red light therapy to be extremely effective in treating pain and inflammation in joints and muscles, insomnia and other sleep disorders, cognitive deficiencies, immune health issues, among others. It is also used by many professional athletes to improve fitness and performance, as well as to reduce recovery time.
The best part? There are few to no side effects to red light therapy treatments. In fact, it is currently being explored as a safe alternative to opioid use in the treatment and management of pain, with the goal of curbing the public health crisis that has crippled many communities
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF)
Our PEMF device assists in ensuring the body is supplied with ample oxygen and nutrients by delivering a patented therapeutic signal using a pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF). This signal targets impaired pumping of small vessels and stimulates vasomotion, a process in the microcirculatory system that promotes needs-based distribution of blood throughout the body. Maintaining healthy microcirculation is essential for the cardiovascular system. PEMF devices are non-invasive and non-chemical and have been found to improve microcirculatory blood flow. A pulsed electromagnetic field delivers a patented therapeutic signal. This signal helps improve the impaired pumping movements of small and very small vessels to promote needs-based distribution of blood. Better Circulation. Better Health. Better Life. This technology is changing the way we think about our health, challenging our understanding of the human body, and empowering us to reach optimal physical condition in a natural, non-invasive way. Proper blood flow plays a critical role in general health. BEMER is an FDA and Health Canada registered consumer medical device that’s easy-to-use and non-invasive. It is used to enhance muscle performance; strength, conditioning & recovery; vitality; energy & endurance; oxygen delivery & local circulation; stress reduction; relaxation & rest.

PoNS Therapy
For adults with balance or gait deficit due to mild to moderate symptoms of multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and stroke, a new therapy that can be RESPoNSIBLE. vDid you know that your tongue has nerves that connect to your brainstem? Targeted sensory nerve endings on the tongue are stimulated by PoNS when it is placed correctly in the mouth. The PoNS non-surgical device uses electrical stimulation through the tongue to activate new pathways to the brain. When used together with physical rehabilitation exercise, PoNS improves their balance or gait deficit. PoNS has also been shown to reduce the risk of falling after a stroke
InfraRed Sauna
Infrared saunas are a type of sauna that uses heat and light to help relax and detoxify the body. They omit infrared light waves that create heat in the body, causing you to sweat and release stored ‘toxins’. Infrared sauna devices deliver far-infrared light wave radiation directly to the human body without any bands needed. The therapeutic effects of infrared saunas come down to the electromagnetic radiation spectrum. In simple terms, this results in infrared saunas causing heat and natural, positive radiation effects in the human body. Infrared light treatment usually works within just 15-20 minutes, without the need of extreme heat.
Infrared sauna treatments increase the following responses in your body: increased sweating, increased heart rate (similar to the clarity-of-mind feelings experienced from moderate exercise), relaxation responses triggered by the body’s parasympathetic nervous system.
The health benefits may include: improving heart function, lowering chronic pain (including that from arthritis), limiting diabetes side effects, improving overall well-being.
Some studies have shown benefits of infrared sauna therapy for people with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue, poor digestion, depression & anger, chronic muscle & joint pains. We strongly advise checking with your physician prior to beginning infrared sauna treatments to ensure this is safe for you! If you experience dizziness, headaches, light-headedness or difficulty breathing in the sauna, exit immediately and visit your physician.
Our sauna is Canadian made, using Beeswax to ensure safety.
Shockwave
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves creating a series of low energy acoustic wave pulsations that are directly applied to an injury through a person’s skin via a gel medium. It can be uncomfortable. It is a treatment for a lingering injury, or pain resulting from illness. It can be used in the treatment of many musculoskeletal conditions, primarily those involving connective tissues such as ligaments and tendons.
Shockwave therapy is most suited for people who have chronic (ie greater than 6 weeks) tendonopathies which haven’t responded to other conventional care. Tennis & golfer’s elbow, achilles tendonopathy, rotator cuff problems, plantar fasciitis, jumper’s knee, calcific tendonitis, hip bursitis, IT band syndrome, chronic back pain and shin splints that are the result of sport, overuse or repetitive strain have had positive results from treatment. Shockwave can not be used during pregnancy, active cancer, circulatory issues, with a pacemaker, or when growth plates are still open in children.
To try this, book an assessment by a physiotherapist or chiropractor at our clinic to determine if you are a candidate. Treatment is usually once per week for 4-8 weeks. The treatment can cause discomfort, but that should only last a few minutes, occasionally resulting in bruising. Intensity can be adjusted, if painful.
